Template Edits/Revisions
Best practice is to keep a template in "Edit/Draft Mode" until all changes are made. To reiterate, this is to say that when editing a template in the Observe system, you should only edit in draft mode.
If you want to test scoring, check content or other functionality of the template, open the draft and do your testing by clicking PREVIEW. Click the FINALIZE Revision button only when you are ready to publish and use the template.
After the template is finalized, do NOT make any changes until the end of the evaluation year. Once finalized, making changes to the template will cause multiple versions, template data will be "disconnected", and reporting will be more "difficult".
If you do need to change a finalized copy of a template, best practice is to make a copy and edit the copied version of the template (following the process outlined previously in this article). Once edits to the copied version of the template are complete, name (rename) the template with a distinctive title. For example, include the revision date or a version number.
